Good deeds not for attention

May 02, 2022

Undeniably, the Udenna Foundation will stop at nothing to give its best to stakeholders, and the principal fact of the matter is the Udenna Foundation and the entire Udenna Group will always be where the problem is. It may not save everyone all at once, but it will do its best to give what it can.

When we speak of purpose, we initially think of ourselves. This is but natural, and it’s not wrong. Perhaps, one might say humans are survivors by nature and thrivers by nurture. Yet, the individual’s — or organization’s — central purpose for existence cannot begin and end with oneself, for no true purpose is exclusive to self. A true impetus must include others; hence, it is safe to say that every great purpose grows beyond the individual and any organization.

If we talk about success, working for one’s self alone will be short-lived. That is well-proven all through history. Further, if an organization reflects only self-serving practices, that will also be short-lived. Because in the end, if one wants long-term success completely, it should always be all about people.

However, one must not be confused as we are not talking about reciprocity. It is not always about what one gives — one will receive all the same, although there will always be the lucky ones who reap the gains from those who return their help. What is vital in this world is the principle of generosity for the one who shares, because it moves the latter to do so multiplies the same far more than the one who merely lives by the doctrine of exchange. There are many ways to explain this difference, but perhaps none is more common than the difference between an organization that makes a public spectacle of a gift and the company that gives through daily practice expecting nothing in return.

A powerful example of an organization that is focused on giving wholeheartedly to genuinely express its generous motivation, while working in silence is Udenna Foundation. Established in 2007, this foundation recognizes and emulates the true meaning of love, passion and positivity, while making sure that its acts of kindness create a ripple effect among its members.

During the first few months of this horrible pandemic, Filipinos were struggling with the way Covid-19 has affected daily life. Millions were suddenly unemployed, most businesses were closed indefinitely, and essential items were in short supply. But as fear and anxiety have spread, so have good deeds by others. Not only was the Udenna Foundation one of the first organizations who gave out Covid-19 testing kits at a juncture where kits were extremely expensive, it has been exerting all its efforts in gathering the collective resources of the entire Udenna Group and making them into media that can lend support to those who need it the most during this unprecedented moment in time.

An illustration of the same comes in the form of Chelsea Logistics (through WorkLink Services Inc.), making sure that cargoes coming from different sectors of society were transported safely and expeditiously to their destinations to ensure that the people who were in dire need of them receive the much-needed goods without any trouble at all. It also lent two of its ships to be facilitated as hospitals during the surge of the still-unknown virus.

On the other hand, Wendy’s and Conti’s made certain that food packs coming from their respective kitchens be sent out to our fellow kababayans so as to mitigate their call for hunger. It was not only the pandemic that the Filipinos had to go through.

There were also the dreadful typhoons that ravaged our country, leaving some parts devastated with damage. Some areas were left with no cell signal to reach out to their loved ones, and that proved to be most difficult. It was during this period that DITO Telecommunity extended its arm to provide SIM cards to areas that had that dilemma.

Undeniably, the Udenna Foundation will stop at nothing to give its best to stakeholders, and the principal fact of the matter is the Udenna Foundation and the entire Udenna Group will always be where the problem is. It may not save everyone all at once, but it will do its best to give what it can. This is swiveled on Udenna’s belief that all efforts, no matter how small, when done together can lead to better lives for the Filipino.

In the world of business, people recognize those who sell well, but everyone will respect and remember those who give well without expecting any publicity or anything in return.
